Where can I buy new sheet like solar panel?

I am going to be buying house within 3 years and when I do I am planning to setup solar panels. Right now solar panels are bulky expensive and not even efficient. But when I watch discover or science channel they show me that there are very cheap and efficient solar panel that is like a sheet developed and now manufacturing. I looked up but I could not find find where they sell them. Do anyone know they sell the new solar panel? If not when do you think it will be sold to consumers?

The sheet like solar panel you are describing is called Thin Film Photo Voltaics or TFPV for short. The Brunton Solaroll is a portable version of it. I believe a company called INNOVALIGHT is developing/manufacturing it. Unfortunately they do not seem to be selling it as of yet.

I’ve been hearing that there’s going to be a breakthrough in solar panels since I was in college, and I graduated in 1980! Don’t get me wrong, I hope there is cheap solar electricity for everyone, but I’m not holding my breath for a revolutionary development.

That said, 3 years is a good time horizon, because solar panels are expected to come down considerably in that time frame, not by revolution, but by normal evolution of technology. Panels could be 60% of today’s price in 3 years.
